Same size as before, charcoal paper, vine charcoal, maybe a little generals compressed charcoal pencil to finish it up. Let's try a lady and landscape this time. Having fun, starting to feel more familiar with the materials, my composition is still POO as her head is way to near the top. Even with practice thumbnails, this is where we are.

Applying What We've Learned
Trying the orange under-drawing and charcoal process we've learned from Mr. Fowkes on a smaller figure drawing. That's how we learn.

Nathan Fowkes #2
Trying it again today. I'm working on cheap newsprint so I don't waste good paper yet. Not able to pull out the high-lites like Mr. Fowkes can. I have no sense of value, drawing this large, or using charcoal. Overwhelming in all there is too learn.

2017 Arting Goals
Refocusing the practice efforts for 2017: We've developed the habit of drawing every day, even up to 60 mins a day now, but we're just filling up pages with floating heads and torsos. The goal for 2017, starting now, is to try and do one "finished," drawing a week. It can be a figure drawing, portrait, master copy, caricature or inked illustration. The drawing has to be with purpose and try to be composed on a page. We'll start the year off by drawing along with a great demo by Nathan Fowkes. http://artschoolvideos.com/course/portrait-drawing-in-charcoal-full-demo/
