The top of the post is what was put up on the white board. Then the most recent sketches, down to the bottom were we started exploring. Thank you to my non-subject co-workers for their feedback as to what was as more successful shape/relationship wise.

Been working on this fine gentleman for a few weeks now. Have some pages of other exploration at work. For some reason wanted to try water coloring it. No idea what I'm doing with water color. The only experience I have is trying to paint a bush once at lake george two years ago. This was a lot of fun. The smaller studies I think have better paint but the likeness is off. Second day the likeness is better but I couldn't recreate the colors.
Above is the Sunday version.
Some of the "process."
First day version. I did like playing with the purple.

Did some more versions of the previous subject. Experimented with drawing from memory, trying to caricature, different sizes, ect.
Memory experimentation in a meeting.

Trying to focus on values. Over complicated the shapes with the grey that should have been his shoulders/hoodie. Not clear that he's biting his hoodie. Fun practice the the crayon though.

Goals for 2018 are to focus on value, process and composition. We'll pay attention how much time I need to get a blocking in. Can be anywhere from 5-20 mins. A goal floating in the back of my head is to get a solid showing of where I'll be going with the image in 20 mins or so. Long term goal to have said 20 mins be a frameable stand-alone image if executed with proper materials. I should stick with one size, one paper, and one drawing medium if I aim to practice as effectively for mastery as I can. We'll see what happens. Below are 5 min value studies on newsprint with carb-othello pastel pencils. 9x12 size. Images from lin-of-action and sketch-reference-daily.

Last drawing of the new Christmas break. Trying to focus on value, process an composition. Tried to follow a process of light lay in and focusing on the most important statements first. Drawn from New Master's Academy reference, conte crayon and cheap, cheap newsprint.

Christmas vacation. Finally had some time together with my wife, so I was not drawing all day long. When I was drawing, I'm not sure what I'm working on, or towards, so I was once again floundering again a little. Was trying drawing larger again, with conte crayon, a medium I not used to. Starting to think about what I want to focus on for the next year. All drawn from photos from the "line-of-action," drawing resource website.
