Caricature Portrait from a Photo
This photo caught my eye. Found her face and expression very interesting. Decided to explore it. Did some prep sketches, tried a longer "final," and lost some of the caricature. Went back the next month for a 2nd try.

Co-worker carricature
Title says it all. Tough one this time.
The "final."
The "final," preparatory sketch.
Inking experimentation.

October Return
Caught some local figure drawing again.
The extra little hairs were a terrible choice. Too late to erase. Would completely change the left side of the pony tail as well. Over all for the first live portrait in a few months, I'm encouraged for the future.
Thought making the arm darker would help make it pop. It did the opposite. Should have shadowed the leg and back arm instead.

September Sun
Still in crunch. Some quick sketches from a horse show and NYC. No time/energy to sit down and practice "finishing," a piece.

Crunchier August
Still in crunch. Still drawing every day, but not as much time in which to do it. Some memory gesture drawings, and some composition thumbnails for an image I'd like to do from our field day at work. Plus a quick memory sketch of a co-worker.

Crunchy July
Began the month with some camping, ended the month deep into crunch. Only having time for quick thumbnail sketches.

Light June
We're entering crunch at work so extra arting time is diminishing. We got one more local session of life drawing in which produced nothing of note. Trying to do "memory gesture sketches," as per Nicolaides. 15 mins or so every day, do some quick gestural thumbnail compositions from memory from through out the day. No floating heads, or torsos, try putting characters in a scene with boarders. These are a few from camping.
